How to Find an EPC on the National Register (And Why It Matters)

The national EPC register is a publicly accessible database of all valid Energy Performance Certificates issued in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

How to find an EPC

You can search for an EPC at find-energy-certificate.service.gov.uk using the property's address or postcode.

What information does an EPC contain?

  • Current energy efficiency rating (A–G)
  • Potential rating if recommended improvements are made
  • Estimated energy costs per year
  • Recommended improvements with cost savings
  • Environmental impact rating
  • How long is an EPC valid?

EPCs are valid for 10 years from the date of issue. After that, a new assessment is required before the property can be marketed.

What if my EPC has expired?

If you're currently renting out a property with an expired EPC, you're in breach of regulations. Contact Energy Guard immediately — we offer same-day assessments and can have your new certificate ready within 24 hours.
